About Us

Building Community Through Sports Since 2020.

Who We Are

Stonewall Sports Indianapolis (SSI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies through sports and social activities. Founded in 2020, we provide a safe, welcoming environment where adults can participate in recreational sports leagues, open gyms, and community events that build connections and foster belonging.

As a chapter of Stonewall Sports, Inc. (based in Washington, D.C.), we’re part of a national network committed to creating inclusive athletic opportunities that strengthen LGBTQ+ communities across the country.

Our Mission

Stonewall Sports Indianapolis fosters and provides inclusive athletic and social opportunities to the LGBTQ+ community and allies in Central Indiana. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization committed to creating welcoming spaces where everyone can play, connect, and belong.

Our Vision

Stonewall Sports Indianapolis envisions a Central Indiana where the LGBTQ+ community and allies experience full acceptance and belonging through athletics and social connection. We aspire to be a leading force in building inclusive spaces where all individuals can celebrate their authentic selves.

What We Offer

We believe that sports have the power to bring people together. All of our programs are designed to be welcoming to participants of every skill level, from beginners to seasoned athletes. We emphasize fun, friendship, and community over competition.

Our Founding Story

In 2020, a passionate group of Indianapolis community members recognized the need for LGBTQ+-inclusive athletic opportunities in the Circle City. Drawing inspiration from successful Stonewall Sports chapters in other cities, our founding team worked to bring this vision to life in Indianapolis.

Why Indianapolis?

Indianapolis truly deserves its reputation as a sports capital. Home to six professional sports franchises, the NCAA headquarters, the National Federation of State High School Associations, the American College of Sports Medicine, the Indianapolis 500, and Indiana Sports Corps, our city’s dedication to athletics is evident. As Indianapolis and Central Indiana’s LGBTQ+ community continues to grow, it’s essential that the Circle City invest in athletic options for its queer community.

We believe Indianapolis’ legacy will be strengthened by including all Hoosiers in the next “big game.”
